Dr. Dinah Abioro has been in the healthcare field since 2001 and is committed to providing your child with with the highest quality oral health care in the most comfortable, caring, and kid friendly manner possible.
Dr. Abioro is a native of Maywood, Illinois. After graduating from high school, Dr. Abioro enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, and served as a unit diary clerk. She began working in the medical field during college as a pharmacy technician. While in college, Dr. Abioro switched military branches and joined the United States Air Force Reserve as a pharmacy technician and later became commissioned as an officer in the nurse corps.
Dr. Abioro attended Georgia College & State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing with a minor in psychology. Throughout her nursing career, she worked in the field of critical care as a critical care nurse in the intensive care unit. The desire to focus on oral health led her to the field of dentistry.
She obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Abioro also completed an advanced education in general dentistry residency as well as a pediatric dentistry residency from Howard University.
Dr. Abioro’s specialized training in pediatrics focuses on the unique requirements of infants, children, adolescents, and those with special healthcare needs. This additional training allows her to better understand, manage, and treat patients experiencing issues such as dental fear, dental anxiety, behavior management issues, and high cavity/caries rate, as well as care of the medically and developmentally compromised and disabled patient.
Dr. Abioro is a board-certified pediatric dentist. She received this recognition from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, the only certifying board in the specialty recognized by the American Dental Association. Her professional memberships include the International Association of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, Southern Maryland Dental Society, Howard University College of Dentistry Alumni Admissions Committee, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Her hobbies include being a spectacular wife and awesome mom to Moochie, Skooter, and Marco (her fur babies). Dr. Abioro also finds time to sew, garden, fish, and dabble in home repairs.
